Thursday                             Back to : This Week

Tango Lessons at the Factory on Grant.

Thursdays Tango Classes getting back on track

Venue: The Factory on Grant, corner Nellie and Grant, Norwood

Start date see below

2018 Lessons Format:
6:30pm - 7:30pm Class 1 (Ladies Learning to Lead)
This class is for ladies who want to learn to lead. There has been a request for this class and so we are pleased to present it.

Learning your partner’s role in Tango gives you added understanding and depth to your own Tango. Besides, if you can lead you don’t have to wait to be asked to dance – ‘winky face’
7:30pm - 8:30pm Class 2  (Beginners Group Class)
In this class we will introduce those new to Tango to the history and fundamentals of Tango, lead and follow. The goal is to get new friends dancing confidently – as quickly as possible – so they will feel comfortable joining us at Milongas.
It’s always nice to dance with new people. So, invite your friends to come learn Tango with us. Let’s make 2018 a bumper year of growth for our community.
8:30pm - 9:30pm Class 3  (Tango Figures Class) "
Figures are made up of combinations of steps or movements.
In this class we want to examine the steps and movements that make up our figures; we want to deconstruct and reconstruct our figures; develop the comfort and ease of movement that makes our figures magical to dance; and we want create new and exciting figures of our own.
All are welcome on this class but it is highly recommended that you know most common figures like: the Basic8, giros, ganchos, etc.

The idea is to have our ‘Ladies Learning to Lead’ class first. If we have beginner Ladies with no partners for the Second Class, Ladies Learning to Lead can partner & practice Leading.
If we have Single Ladies or Men on this class then the Ladies from Class 1 can help in Class 2.
Class 3 is for more advanced students… where we do Tango Figures. Ladies Learning to Lead can once again partner Single Men - or maybe as Leaders if they are confident enough.
We want to give our ladies more opportunities to take lessons; and more opportunities to dance at  Milongas.

Thursday 18thJanuary: a Meet & Greet Session/Lesson
On the Meet & Greet Night (18th Jan), all 3 the lessons will be for Free. This we be the start of our classes. Classes will be Thursdays from 18:30 to 21:30.
It takes two to tango and, for singles, finding a committed Tango partner to do classes with is not always easy.
The Meet and Greet Session/Lesson is:
to introduce the Tango Gold Card;
to give an overview of the course work;
And: so that people can meet each other to form Tango partnerships. Partners can share lessons and Gold Cards.
With this we hope that all the singles looking for Tango lesson partners will take full advantage of this evening.
Join us! Come meet new people… and find your Tango lesson partner

The Tango Gold Card
The Gold Card is R1000 per couple. Each time the couple attends a lesson; a corner gets clipped off. This way you only pay for the lessons you attend. Once all 4 corners are gone – you will need to buy a new Gold Card.
The Gold Cards can be gifted to friends, or one could gift just a corner of your card, and let a couple of friends join you on a class – in case they want to give Tango a try, before they buy their own Gold Card.
If you join us on Thursday the 18th for our Meet and Greet Session/Lesson and purchase your Tango Gold Card on the night, we will give you 20% discount on the price of the Tango Gold Card.
You can also plan in advance and purchase as many cards as you feel you will need. We are not limiting the number of cards you may purchase.

This is the plan for 2018 so far. We trust you will join us and enjoy a grand year in Tango.
Regards
Tango-Tensity
Lerato and Bert

In the Country      Back to : This Week

 2. There is now a newly-created Tango calendar for everything happening in Cape Town:

http://www.tangocapetown.com/
The idea is that it's a non-partisan source that offers a comprehensive and easy overview - all classes and events, updated frequently, as accurately as possible.
There also a page with contact details for all the local organisers and teachers, links to their sites, and a google map with all the Tango locations pinned, to help the local community and visitors.
Argentine tango is danced in other cities throughout South Africa.
Details are published in the Tangojoburg website.
