Cape Town Tango Marathon 2018

CTTM 2018 – Monthly Newsletter – July 2018

Cape Town Tango Marathon 2017 proved to be a great success – a first of its kind in our beautiful city! There were many learnings which will assist us to build on this legacy by improving this years marathon as well as those to come, by adding value and creating greater diversity..
One of the issues raised by you – our visitors – was that Capetonians were rather cliquish, did not interact much with you and mostly danced amongst ourselves. Thanks for this feedback as it prompted us to make this years’ experience much more welcoming and inclusive by creating opportunities to get to know each other on different levels.
  • A “First-Thursday” of the month 3 hours prior to the opening milonga at Youngblood. http://www.first-thursdays.co.za
  • On the opening evening of Friday 7thDec there will be a welcoming cheese and wine.
  • This is followed by a lesson of the Chacarera for all before the Milonga.
  • The Chacarera will be presented during the marathon for all to participate.
  • Furthermore we will be mixing things up during milongas, allowing for lots of interaction.
  • A guided tour on Saturday morning of historic sites in Cape Town,
These are equal opportunities for visitors and Capetonians alike to step up to the plate, seize these opportunities and make it a special event with fond memories.

In addition we appeal to the Cape Town Tango Community to open your homes where possible and provide a “Tango-BnB” type accommodation offering at a nominal fee for travelling dancers. If you are interested or know someone who is, please email your details to lisa@tangomarathon.capetown and we will forward same to interested visitors.

We would also like to invite anyone who is willing to assist with finding- or providing a sponsorship for this event, or if you would like to contribute in any manner towards the marathon, to please contact us via  lisa@tangomarathon.capetown

NB – Please don’t forget to register online as soon as possible by visiting our website www.tangomarathon.capetown which contains all the latest information.

Looking forward to meeting you at a fun-filled CTTM 2018 – only 4 months to go!!

In the Country      Back to : This Week

Argentine tango is danced in other cities throughout South Africa.
There is now a newly-created Tango calendar for everything happening in Cape Town:

http://www.capetowntango.co.za/
The idea is that it's a non-partisan source that offers a comprehensive and easy overview - all classes and events, updated frequently, as accurately as possible.
There also a page with contact details for all the local organisers and teachers, links to their sites, and a google map with all the Tango locations pinned, to help the local community and visitors.
