This week there are two milongas in the area:
  1. The Tuesday milonga is at the Dance Junxion at Rosebank Mall.
  2. Sunday, Emiliano hosts a festive, end-of-season milonga that includes a performance. It starts at 19:30. Booking is essential. See below for details.
Workshop announcement:
Fernando "Chucky" Romero, visiting teacher from Argentina, will present two days of workshops for all dance levels Saturday and Sunday, 16 and 17 November.
The theme of the experimental workshop is "Dance Your Tango Not Mine." See below for more information.

Saturday

16 November

1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Experimental workshop with visiting teacher Chucky Romero at the Dance Junxion at the rooftop level of Rosebank Mall, between Bath and Cradock Avenues.
This two-day workshop is divided into two sections. On day one, Chucky focuses on understanding the rules of tango and on the second day, on breaking the rules. Each class features three hours of dancing plus breaks. The classes are geared for all dance levels and no partner is needed.
Day One, Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Tango conditioning, technique and interesting sequences that reinforce some principles.
Day Two, Sunday, 17 November, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Musicality and improvisation
There is no charge for the workshops. But participants are invited to make a donation.
Chucky is a former teacher at the DNI school in Buenos Aires. Currently he travels internationally performing and teaching. His work includes the Tango Circus, in which he shared the stage in Germany with Homer and Cristina Ladas.
Andrea says: "Chucky is an exceptional dancer and teacher with an incredible sense of rhythm. He describes very clearly how the body and movement work together in excellent English. Regardless of whether you are new to tango, getting back to basics, or looking for some inspiration, this workshop will be lots of fun and an opportunity to make new friends."

15:00 - 17:00: Argentinian teacher Emiliano Fernandez leads a guided practice Saturdays at the Dance Café in Bryanston. You will have two hours to practice and improve your knowledge of tango. The cost is R120 and the guided practice is open to all levels of tango dancers. The practice is something between a milonga and a lesson.

Cape Town Tango Ensemble:
A tango orchestra that performs traditional tangos in the style of DiSarli, Canaro, Salgan, Pugliese and tango nuevos in the style of Piazzolla, Galliano, Fiorrio. It also performs its own including works by Stanislav Angelov' who mixes tango tradition with a jazz and South African flavours. His compositions and arrangements are often used for film and television productions in South Africa and overseas.
The ensemble also performs for theatre productions with professional tango dancers and actors in South Africa and Namibia.
