Joy of Tango tour The
playground of tango is the steps but our home is in the embrace and where we
want to go back to every time.
*All levels - No partners
required*
Thursday 15
th October 2015
Time:
19:30-21:00
Theme: The panther (tango) walk
Venue: Casa de Tango
Price:
R50 per person
Learn the secrets of dancing with the smoothness and elegance
of a panther. This is an in-depth, practical class in tango walking. Walking
together with partners and finally with music. Develop body awareness, balance
and an ear to move your axis to the music. The importance of the hips and torso.
Axis, equilibrium, form and connection to ones’ partner. Forward and up, while
being grounded. The body as an instrument to the orchestra, the couple as a
servant to the orchestra, resulting in a trilogy. Pauses that bring quality and
adventure in your walk.
Friday 16
th October 2015
Time:
19:00-21:00
Theme: A comfortable tango embrace
Venue: Casa de
Tango
Price: R150 per person (package I price applies)
Embrace Part I: An
uncomfortable embrace is the main reason dancers get refused dances by others.
How to re-find your body’s natural posture as it’s meant by nature while moving
in tango, transmitting to your partner, getting rid of tension and unnecessary
efforts. Develop the understanding of one’s own anatomy and touch. It also means
to respect the anatomy and personal space of one’s partner, providing enough
freedom for movement and avoiding strain on the followers’ posture. Classic
figures and elements like cortes or ocho cortado will be used for to deepen the
understanding of the theme.
Saturday17
th October 2015
Time:
13:00-15:00
Theme: An efficient tango embrace
Venue: Dance Café
Price:
R150 per person (package I price applies)
Embrace Part II: An efficient
embrace serves to transmit and receive an impulse or intention. What makes this
challenging to learn is it’s subtlety because one embarks on a journey to be
truly and fully connected with the rest of one’s own body. An efficient embrace
enables tiny movements and subtle sensations. Earthing and upwardness, axis and
the embrace as a communicative circle. We will use fundamental figures like
ochos/giros/voleos as a study material for a subtle but decisive, Argentinian
embrace ;-) .
Saturday17
th October 2015
Time:
15:15-17:00
Theme: Milonga con TraspieI
Venue: Dance Café
Price: R150
per person (package price I applies)
Never sit out a milonga anymore: Milonga
con traspie Part I
Yvonne learnt Milonga con Traspie from Pocho, Tommy
O’Connel and El Tano Guillermo amongst many others, whom were considered his
teachers by the famous milonga dancer younger generation Omar Vega. Some very
traditional and general material will be delivered to work on the synchronicity
in the couple. We strongly advise to attend the 2 embrace classes as without a
well working embrace a leader’s lead and intention will not be understood by his
follower, reducing the dance to a one-way-communication. The course aims at
discovering the pleasure of milonga rhythm in synchronicity
‘one-heart-with-4-legs’.
Sunday18
th October 2015
Time:
13:00-15:00
Theme: The human factor (Embrace, part III)
Venue: Dance
Junxion
Price: R150 per person (package I price applies)
Learn to dance
beyond ‘lead’ and ‘follow’ towards proposal and response, improvisation. The
best feeling a follower can give a leader is complete freedom and the leader to
the follower is complete attention. For this course we will use changes of
direction and counter-body moves as well examine vals rhythms to polish our
embraces.
Sunday18
th October 2015
Time:
15:15-17:00
Theme: Milonga con Traspie II
Venue: Dance Junxion
Price:
R150 per person (package I price applies)
Never sit out a milonga anymore:
Milonga con traspie Part II
This class builds on Milonga con Traspie I.
