Tango at Clarens 17 to 21st March

Introduction/ program

Two houses have tentatively been reserved for the “long” weekend (Tuesday is public holiday) from  17-21 March(Friday to Tuesday- four nights) which are self catering units for 6 and 11 people –Lelie Hoek & Klein Vrystaat respectively. Numbers need to be finalised asap- first come first serve Note: there are also B&Bs available at various lodges in Clarens for people that do not want to share a house.
We can use the church hall for the whole weekend for dancing, lessons and dinner- should we want to do a braai there.
Suggested is the same sort of program that we had at Three Rivers Gorge – lessons the afternoon(beginners and advanced) and a braai followed by a dance & milonga.  Have dinner the the Friday night at one of the restaurants in the plain and maybe dance there if it can be arranged this before the time.
Saturday night: have lessons, a braai and a Milonga/dance at the church hall. (maybe a variety of music to get the local people involved)
Sunday night: TBC. We can maybe try out the local restuarants and pubs in Clarens
Monday night:  have lessons, a braai and a Milonga at the church hall

Facilities for dancing-  the Church hall.

The hall is fairly big with a smooth floor and has smaller side hall/reception area that we can use for dining if we are going to braai there.
  • The rental for the church hall is R1200- for the weekend which includes cutlery etc.
  •
  • They charge R40/ person for the braai(if we are planning to do a braai the Saturday night) this will include the fires, salads, potato bake, bread etc. (meat and drinks is to your own account)

Accomodation

The following accommodation is available for self catering at : R300 /person / night. B&Bs are also available from R400/person/night.(book with mountain Odyssey- or www. infoclarens.com
We can easilly fit 16 people into self catering between the two houses;  Leliehoek and Klein Vrystaat. ( see the info below regarding the two houses)
Leliehoek is the original farmhouse built in the beginning of the 20th century.
It's a sandstone building situated close to the Kloof Dam with a lovely view of the surrounding mountains.
KLEIN VRYSTAAT - In Clarens (5 Bedrooms - Sleeps 11)
This is a self-catering unit in Clarens, walking distance from town surrounded by our beautiful mountains in Clarens and a lovely big garden
This house has two units, upstairs and downstairs, each with their own entrance.
Five bedrooms between the 2 units are available;

There also a page with contact details for all the local organisers and teachers, links to their sites, and a google map with all the Tango locations pinned, to help the local community and visitors.
Argentine tango is danced in other cities throughout South Africa.
