This
week there is a practica and a milonga in the area:
- The Tuesday milonga is now a practica but still held at the Dance Junxion at
Rosebank Mall.
- The Sunday milonga is at the Dance Cafe.
Mark your
calendars:
 Emiliano
is hosting two nights of tango movies in association with the Argentinean
Association of South Africa. 1. Saturday, March 15, he will screen The
Tango Lesson, a film credited with started the European tango boom of the
1990s. The film, by Sally Potter and featuring Pablo Veron, starts at 8 p.m. A
free demo lesson is at 7 p.m. 2. Sunday, March 16, the regularly scheduled
milonga will be preceded by a screening of Tango: A Strange Turn. The
documentary depicts the story of a new generation of tango musicians in Buenos
Aires. The screening is at 6 p.m. The milonga starts at 8 p.m. The cost for the
milonga is R50. Both films are in Spanish with English subtitles. The cost
for the film screening is R10. The screenings will be at Marks Park Sports Club,

tango orchestra that performs traditional tangos in the style of DiSarli,
Canaro, Salgan, Pugliese and tango nuevos in the style of Piazzolla, Galliano,
Fiorrio. It also performs its own including works by Stanislav Angelov' who
mixes tango tradition with a jazz and South African flavours. His compositions
and arrangements are often used for film and television productions in South
Africa and overseas. The ensemble also performs for theatre productions with
professional tango dancers and actors in South Africa and
